Good to know (known limitations)

Pagemint is honest about what each tool does, so your visitors are never surprised. Most points below are also explained on the tool's own page.

Tools that run in the browser

Conversions

Tool What you get
Word, Excel, HTML to PDF Convert to PDF gives pages as pictures: they look exactly right, but the text cannot be selected or searched. Print or save as PDF opens the browser's print window and gives selectable text. For server-side conversion with selectable text, add the LibreOffice engine (VPS).
PDF to Word Editable text keeps paragraphs, headings and right-to-left text; tables become lines of text and pictures are left out. Exact look puts each page into Word as a picture.
PDF to Excel Each page becomes a sheet and table columns are lined up from the text positions. Works best with tables made by a computer.
PDF to PowerPoint Each page becomes a slide with the page as a picture (it looks the same; the text is not editable).
PDF to text Plain text or Markdown with headings.
HTML to PDF Scripts inside the HTML file never run (for safety). Pictures from other websites appear only when that website allows it.
PowerPoint to PDF, PDF to PDF/A Need an optional engine (LibreOffice / Ghostscript on a VPS, or an iLoveAPI account). Without one, these two tools stay hidden.

Scanned documents

There is no text recognition (OCR). A scanned page is a picture of text, so PDF to Word, Excel or text explain that no text was found. Scan to PDF, compression, merging and the other page tools work on scans as usual.
